there
was an official Mattel Trade -In program to
introduce this new exciting Twist Barbie doll. One
could trade in an old doll, plus $ 1.50 & could
receive this new doll. Her item no. is 1162-Trade-In
Barbie. Box dated: 1966. This doll had long straight
hair too with bangs, uneven ends like the
first Twist 'N Turn Barbie. Hair was mid length and tied at
the top with a orange ribbon and rubber band. Hair colors:
titian/red- shades of blonde & brunette. This doll had blue
eyes, rooted eyelashes, brown painted brows, deep pink lips
and blush. Special note: Different shades of brow paint were
used to match with hair color. Pink twist and turn body with
painted nails. She came with a wrist tag, head cello
and a clear stand for posing. This doll when new in
the box was packaged in a clear cello bag. A World of Barbie
fashions booklet was included. This booklet was dated 1966.
These dolls can pale over time.
Trade-In Twist 'N Turn wore a 2 pc.
orange swimsuit with a white net cover up. Noted on
Mattel's site under history, 1,250,000 old dolls were traded
during the month of May alone and those were given to
charity. Note: Some of the Trade-In Dolls had a "Made In

The titian hair color is the hardest and most sought after
by collectors today. In mint condition with no fading spots,
the doll is very costly. But in any event, all these dolls
are wonderful to own in your collection. Enjoy the photos.
