Number 4 Barbie.

 

The Barbie doll family grew with another new ponytail in 1960. The characteristics of this doll as follows: Number 4 has the same item id no. 850 as the first 3 dolls but she has a new look, a new plastic that was tan, not as the first 3 dolls before her. Her box date was 1959. Hair was either blonde or brunette.

Curly soft bangs and ponytail with a hard curl. Blue eyes. Blonde or brown eyebrows. Red lips. Doll came wearing a 1 pc. black & white striped strapless knit swimsuit. Gold hoop earrings or pearl stud earrings, white sunglasses with blue colored lenses & a pair of open toe black heels, a black wire pedestal with black disc stand with R markings (the "R" enclosed) and a Barbie fashion booklet.

 

Accessories


This doll has the smaller neck knob on a Straight leg tan body. The body was somewhat know as tanned skin for the coloring. This was the new type plastic that Mattel began on the line. This plastic on this doll can feel very smooth and soft.

Doll can be seen in the Mix 'N Max Trousseau, Party Set and Barbie & Ken Gift Set. Details: Painted red nails-tan straight leg body. This year Mattel uses a new type plastic for the body.

Body markings are:Barbie T.M./Pats.Pend./ @  MCMLIII/by/Mattel/Inc.
 
   

Details: painted red nails. This doll's body can fade and the lips can fade. Blue eyeliner considered to be more rare on this doll. See the difference in face and plastic used from the Number 3 and Number 1, 2. The 4's have a softer expression with tan coloring.
